Natures Valley

Uniquely the only village community in South Africa totally surrounded by National Parks' administered land, the secluded hamlet of Natures Valley is bounded by lush indigenous forest boasting some impressive yellow-wood and other trees, a large estuary and 3kms of pristine golden beaches with rocky pools to explore. It is no small wonder that Natures Valley in Tsitsikamma National Park is also known as the Hidden Jewel of The Garden Route.

Natures' Valley is where South Africa's premier coastal hiking experience - The Otter Trail - ends and also marks the starting point of the inland Tsitsikamma Trail. In addition, the Natures' Valley region also boasts a significant number of exceptionally scenic short- and day-long 'slackpacking' hiking options.

Rocky Road Backpackers is the perfect accommodation base for both before and after the overnight trails as well as the day hike options. Hikers can safely leave their vehicles at Rocky Road and make use of our transfer service for all drop-off's and pick-up's.

Further regular activities that Rocky Road Backpackers offer in Natures' Valley are beach boule/ petanque games; surf, rock and estuary fishing expeditions; day hiking trails as well as canoeing the estuary. Check out Rocky's Adventures for more info.
